Roger's new girlfriend

Thailand map We spent our last 2 nights in Bangkok before heading back to San Francisco. Once again, we stayed in the Silom Road area. We ate as much authentic Thai food as we could, trying things we hadn't had before. Still, we were most impressed with the food at the markets, even after eating at a couple 'expensive' restaurants.

Our last full day there was also Roger's birthday. It was so hot and humid that we saw a movie just to cool down. That evening, Roger got an oil massage and Jen had a facial. It was a rewarding end to our trip. After dinner we encountered a young elephant on the sidewalk. Jen enjoyed feeding it sugar cane and we got some good photos. We took advantage of the night market and finished shopping for gifts. By this point both of us were expert bargainers and we made some good deals. Next, we went to a club and checked out a show with a Thai Elvis and a Thai Tom Jones impersonator. We both thought Elvis was fun but Tom Jones wasn't very convincing (although someone did throw some panties onstage). Lastly, we went to the Lucifer Club where the employees dress as medieval jesters and the decor looks like Hell, literally!

We were sad to wake up and check out of our hotel knowing this was our last day. Before catching a cab to the airport, we ate some of our new favorite breakfast foods - fried eggs over rice, fresh pineapple, fried bananas, fried donuts... (okay, so breakfast on the street is not as authentic as lunch and dinner, but this is what we grew to like).

Now we are back home in SF and back into our boring routines, mentally planning our next vacation. Jen keeps having reoccurring dreams about the food in Thailand.
